BARRON COUNTY MISS "Q" WINNERS RECOGNIZED

RICE LAKE, Wis. - The 2010 Barron County Fair Miss "Q" Contest showcased youth for quality milk production. The contest awards are presented to individuals in four lactation classes. The animal in each class with the lowest lactation average linear score, indicating the highest quality milk, is declared the winner. The winning entries received the opportunity to sell one gallon of milk at the AgSource Miss Q Auction held during the fair. Proceeds from the auction are awarded to the winning youth exhibitors for them to further develop their dairy project or finance their post secondary education.
The first lactation class winner was won by Allissa Frisle, with an average somatic cell count of 15,000, and was purchased by Gary Frisle for $575.00. The second lactation winner was awarded to April Hunt, with an average somatic cell count of 14,000, and was purchased by Barron Mutual Insurance for $390.00. Emily Hellendrung won the third lactation class with an average somatic cell count of 132,000 and was purchased by Robert Lentz for $400.00.
