DANE COUNTY MISS "Q" WINNERS RECOGNIZED

MADISON, Wis. - The 2010 Dane County Fair Miss "Q" Contest rewarded youth for producing quality milk. The contest awards are presented to individuals in four lactation classes. The animal in each class with the lowest lactation average linear score, indicating the highest quality milk, is declared the winner. The winning entries received the opportunity to sell one gallon of milk at the AgSource Miss Q Auction held during the fair. Proceeds from the auction are awarded to the winning youth exhibitors for them to further develop their dairy project or finance their post secondary education.

The first lactation quality milk pitcher was won by Amelia Cooper of the DeForest Handy Helpers and was purchased by Don Tierney from DeForest, for $450.00. The second lactation quality milk pitcher was awarded to Natalie Schleicher of the DeForest Handy Helpers and was purchased by Wayne Ace Bus & Limo Service of Oregon for $300.00. Kara Kelly, of Deerfield, representing the Dane County Junior Holstein Association, won the third lactation quality milk pitcher. Her gallon was purchased by Tara Tierney-Linde of LT Heating & Air LLC of DeForest for $475.00. The fourth lactation and higher award went to Lindsey Rice, a member of the DeForest Handy Helpers and was sold to Patti Rice of Sun Prairie for $450.00.

AgSource, headquartered in Verona, Wis., is a subsidiary of Cooperative Resources International and a member-owned cooperative that provides agricultural and environmental laboratory analysis and management information services to members and clients from North America and overseas from eight locations in the Midwest and Northwest.
