Danielson Participates in International Conference
SHAWANO, Wis. - Jon Wayne Danielson, a board member of Cooperative Resources International (CRI) subsidiary Genex Cooperative, Inc., travelled to Managua, Nicaragua, to participate in a Cooperative Foundations Seminar. The seminar, a joint effort between CRI and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), focused on establishing solid foundations for beginning cooperatives.
Danielson, of Cadott, Wis., provided a ‘board member-to-board member' perspective on cooperative governance and strategic planning sharing his experiences with 37 attendees from 11 Nicaraguan milk-producer cooperatives.
Dean Gilge, CRI Associate Vice President of Global Alliance Development, appreciates the participation of Danielson, "We are very fortunate to have active board members such as Jon willing to share their experiences; cooperation between cooperatives is a core principle of being a cooperative. Jon has helped CRI take cooperation to a global level."
CRI strives to cooperate with cooperatives by heading a USAID-funded Cooperative Development Program (CDP) in Nicaragua and South Africa. This CDP is committed to developing cooperatives into successful enterprises through mentoring and training. The conference in Nicaragua was part of a series of seminars geared towards mentoring international cooperatives.
CRI, a member-owned holding cooperative, is comprised of two subsidiaries: AgSource Cooperative Services and Genex Cooperative, Inc. The CRI mission statement summarizes the goal of CRI: "To provide products and services as effectively as possible to maximize the profitability of members and customers worldwide while maintaining a strong cooperative."
